Snarl #2
(IV Part 1, Back-up feature)
Snarl Comics evolved out of the
ill-fated Battle Royalle anthology. It usually features 2 installments of
Reg Stacey's awesome Group of Seven comic, a back-up feature or 2 and some
Who's Who style pin-ups. When it came time to publish issue #2, Reg was
looking for a back-up and I had a few weeks off during the summer so I went
down to his place and basically came up with the first installment of an
ongoing project called IV (Four in Roman Numerals).
I usually tend towards self-contained
stories, or at least stories that aren't necessarily episodic, but at
this time, I was beginning to lament not having a more open ended project to
work on. What I wanted was something episodic that could be done quickly
enough so as not to derail any of my current projects, and yet provide
enough room to have something interesting happen each episode. So I decided
to go with a bit of a number theme. 4 pages per episode, 4 panels per page.
It should be interesting to see how long it takes me to tire of having to
maintain that kind of structure.
